Marathon is the Heart of the Florida Keys located about 1 hour from Key West and Key Largo.  The islands of Marathon are Boot Key, Knight Key, Hog Key, Vaca Key, Stirrup Key, Crawl and Little Crawl Key, East and West Sister?s Island, Deer Key and Fat Deer Key, Long Pine Key and Grassy Key.   These islands are steeped with the rich Florida history of Henry Flagler?s railroad days. The name Marathon came about by the railroad workers who were working night and day to complete the railway.

Marathon is pleased to host the annual Marathon Offshore Grand Prix, a GMC Pro Grade National series event.   Professional race teams, which compete in 18 individual classes, campaign their racing program in pursuit of a National Series Title, which, for many, may mean an induction into the prestigious American Power Boat Association Hall of Champions.   Fans are encouraged to come into the Race Village to meet the teams and see their million-dollar equipment up close.   Sit back and enjoy a show of the most spectacular racing ever seen, right here in Marathon.  It's a one in a lifetime experience that you're sure to come back for, year after year.

Marathon maintains its claim to some of the best fishing in the world. Great fishing, along with beautiful beaches, warm weather and residents proud to call Marathon home are some of the reasons many visitors from all over the world choose to spend time in Marathon, the Heart of the Florida Keys.
